How do GPS e-locks work?

The lock records when it is locked or unlocked, where and by what method, and reports this to the platform with its location.

Can unlocking be restricted to certain places?

Depending on the lock, unlocking can be controlled remotely or by authorised cards or passwords, so cargo is opened only where it should be.
