Fuel monitoring system for Kenyan fleets
Fuel is the biggest running cost for commercial fleets in Kenya. TappiTrack fuel level sensors record every refuel, drain and litre used by your trucks, matatus, generators and machinery, so you can stop fuel theft and cut costs.

Fuel monitoring for every type of fleet
Fuel management for Kenyan businesses across many industries, including:
Matatus & passenger transport
Local deliveries
Long-haul transport
Construction & plant
Cold chain & tankers
Corporate & government fleets
How TappiTrack fuel monitoring helps Kenyan fleets
Bird's-eye view of fuel
Count every litre filled or used and see how fuel affects your budget, by vehicle, driver, trip or route.
Real-time fuel control
See how much fuel is in each tank in a few clicks. No more phone calls or dipstick checks.
Fuel history you can trust
Review fuel data regularly to find where money leaks and where your fleet can improve.
Automated fuel reports
Scheduled fuel reports and instant theft alerts arrive by email and app.
Less time on receipts
Spend less time reconciling fuel receipts and more time acting on real exceptions.
Precision for every tank
Each tank is calibrated at installation, including irregular tanks on machinery and generators.
Features of the fuel management system
Fuel fill and fuel theft detection
Every fill and drain is recorded with the precise date, time, location, starting and ending fuel level, and volume, on the web or the mobile app.
Real-time fuel level monitoring
Watch fuel levels update live for every vehicle and tank, and know how much fuel a truck has before dispatching it.
Accurate fuel level sensors for every tank
Tanks are calibrated when the fuel sensor is installed, including irregular machinery tanks, and filtering smooths out fuel movement on rough roads.
Fuel consumption reports
Refuels, drains and fuel consumption by vehicle, driver, trip or period. Export for finance or schedule reports to managers.
Fuel alerts and advanced settings
Set drain and refuel thresholds, choose who receives each alert, and combine fuel data with geofences, idling and driver behaviour.

Where Kenyan fleets lose fuel
Common situations fuel monitoring helps you detect and investigate.

Overnight fuel siphoning
Fuel drained from trucks parked at yards, stages or roadside stops. The sensor records the drop and where it happened.

Refuels that don't match receipts
Receipts show more litres than reached the tank. Recorded refuel volumes give you a figure to compare.

Idling in traffic and at stages
Engines left running in Nairobi traffic or while waiting for passengers burn fuel without moving.

Unauthorised trips
Vehicles used for private errands or side jobs. Trip history and fuel use together show the true cost.

Fuel monitoring FAQ
Can't find your answer? Talk to our team.
How does a fuel monitoring system work?
A fuel level sensor is installed in the tank and calibrated, then connected to the vehicle's GPS tracker. The tracker sends fuel level readings with location and time to the TappiTrack platform, where refuels, drains and consumption are calculated.
How is fuel consumption calculated?
Consumption is calculated from changes in the measured fuel level over a trip or period, adjusted for refuels. Where a vehicle reports fuel data on its CAN-bus, that data can also be used.
Can fuel monitoring detect fuel siphoning in Kenya?
Yes. A sudden fall in fuel level, especially while a vehicle is parked, is flagged as a possible drain with the time and location, so your team can investigate. Monitoring gives you evidence; it does not physically stop theft.
Can you monitor generators and stationary fuel tanks?
Yes. Generators, site tanks and other stationary tanks can be monitored with suitable sensors. We assess each tank before recommending equipment.
Does it work for machinery with irregular tanks?
Yes. Tanks with unusual shapes are calibrated during installation, so readings reflect the real volume at each level.
Can drains be detected while the vehicle is moving?
Large or sudden drops can be detected during movement as well as when parked. Thresholds are set to reduce false alerts from fuel movement on rough roads.
How much does fuel monitoring cost in Kenya?
Cost depends on the number of vehicles or tanks, tank types and the sensors and trackers required. Request a quote and we will assess your equipment first.
